  • Life as we know it…

    Here we are.

The new year has arrived and  I got a feeling its going to be a pretty eventful one.

So many things to look forward! My sister-in-law and my cousin are saying their ” I Do’s”. We are welcoming two sets of little feet into our circle of friends. I’ll finally be completing my Animal Behavior Course and putting it into practice and hopefully fulfilling a life long dream of hosting an Awareness campaign for Pulmonary Hypertension.

There are definitely some big changes happening and I for one am scared, because for once I actually feel like I need to adult, but like really put on some big girl pants and adult. Maybe its because there are so many changes happening in other people’s life that I feel that something big has to happen in mine. . Weird… I know but we will have to wait and see…

Sho, that was deep so let me end it with something I read that inspired me that will maybe inspire you if your feeling the same..

  • Looking back at 2015

    What a year its been..

A mix of emotions arise thinking back. A year that I’m quite happy to say goodbye to and welcome 2016 with open arms, but the year wasn’t all that bad, quite eventful rather..

    The Lows..

This year was definitely a year of emotions. I think my emotional nerve is lodged between some muscles because I literally cried over anything and everything but non the less, we all have our ups and downs.

    • Job Hunting
    • Family drama- who doesn’t have it?
    • Health Issues, or me being slightly neurotic thinking I was suffering a heart attack or that I have a terminal illness- I got over it don’t worry
    • Depression

    The Highs..

    • Celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary
    • Rediscovering South Africa through social networking
    • Meeting new people, making new friends
    • Making old friendships new again
    • Celebrating milestones with friends
    • Spending more time with family
    • Making memories

    THE PIC

    Goals.. (achievable ones)

    • Travel more
    • Try new things
    • Play an instrument
    • Volunteer at something
    • Spread awareness for Pulmonary Hypertension
    • Get healthy
    • Be more adventurous
    • Self discovery

Cheers to  a new year filled with adventure!

  • Outdoors: Hiking The Cycade Trail

    Outdoors: Hiking The Cycade Trail

Early morning a few weekends ago, we drove to Middleburg for our gym work out.
    Well, it was for me…
The Cycad Day Trail is one of the best hikes in the Olifants River gorge.  The trail starts from the farmhouse were the cars are parked. The hike is roughly 8km long and the kloof route needs a certain degree of fitness as it involves some rock scrambling and boulder hopping.

If your lucky, you’ll be accompanied by a little Jack Russell that will do the whole trail with you without a sip of water- To this day we still don’t know how he got to the river- but he was such a cool little guy.

The trail is gorgeous cycads along the route are massive and on route you  will see many appealing rock pools on the way down to the kloof. Most of them have weathered to form amazing formations. In places there are chains to help. There is an easier, alternative route for those who prefer this- Not us though, no no..

The18km trail can be hiked over a two day period but we did it in a day- We definitely took our time to take in the views and have many many water breaks.  My favorite point by far was when we reached the highest point overlooking the river- It was breathtaking

We have a done a few hikes up until this point, but I must say, the Cycade trail was probably one of the best Iv done.
Get outdoors and enjoy this beautiful world we have.
I promise you, wont regret it.

    Getaway: Klein Paradys Guest Farm

Klein Paradys Guest Farm is tranquilly located amidst beautiful Savanna bushveld with a Caravan Park that nestles at the base of a delightful hillock presenting a composed and peaceful backdrop. For that well-earned break where you can relax amidst friends and nature lovers, Klein Paradys Guest Farm is where we did just that.

We spent a weekend at Klein Paradys with family. A little getaway that was well needed and deserved might I add.

We arrived at the  beautiful clean Farm House. Fully furnished with Decor furnishings for complete comfort.  With spacious lawned grounds, it was perfect for early morning bird watching and feeding too.

Over the weekend we set off on a walk around the farm, did some game drives where we saw Blesbuck, Impala, Zebra Duikers, Klipspringer, Wart hog, Bush pig and Kudu. and Redhartbeest and every evening we sat around the fire under the beautiful star filled sky. It was the perfect little getaway

Klein Paradys Guest Farm is especially famous for its variety of Wild Fig Trees, indigenous trees, abundance of birds, beautiful plants and we have even introduced some game which can be viewed from within the park. Blesbuck, Impala, Zebra and Redhartbeest can be seen from our 4 x 4 late afternoon game drives. Other species commonly sighted include Duiker, Klipspringer, Wart hog, Bush pig and Kudu.

I was so excited as I had never had a close encounter with one before. It was so awesome! The whole was back to Klein Paradys I kept on telling everyone that I wanted one to take home.

  • See it: Lord of the Dance

See it: Lord of the Dance

Michael Flatley amp Company Lord Of The Dance Dangerous Games London Palladium Photo By Tristram Kenton

Before I get into discussing the show itself, I thought I would shed some light on the Mater behind the tap shoes known as Michael Flately.

Michael Flately- Dancer, actor, occasional broadcaster, writer, flautist and choreographer.

Flatley set a Guinness Book world record for tapping speed at 28 taps per second, and subsequently broke his own record in 1998 with 35 taps per second. Flatley was named one of National Geographic Society’s Living Treasures in 1991 for mastery of a traditional art form by a living person – the youngest person at that time ever to receive this accolade

A man of many talents Michael Flately is a living legend and lucky for us- we got to see this man work his magic on stage.

    About the show..

I have always loved tap dance, even though I never did it as a child, I had always envied those who did, so to hear that The Lord of the Dance was in town- dream come true.

Look, I have to be honest, I don’t have a clue about tap dance and who Michael Flately was but given his history and seeing him dance, Id say that he has earned all appraisals awarded to him- Hes Production and he himself are truly magnificent.

The show in the beginning dragged on a little and I think our entire row was a bit confused on what the story line actually was-  only towards the end did we all click that there was an actual story.
I think we all just wanted it to get to the part we were all there to watch- the actual tap dancing.

The dancing was glorious- I literally sat there in awe, with my mouth opened,  watching their feet move so fast, thinking if its humanly possible to do so- Well, of course it is, if your in Michael Flately’s production.

Apart from the amazing show, the highlight of my night was the young lady sitting next to me, “oooh-ing and ahhh-ing and every tap step and gushing over certain steps that were performed by the lead dancer. At interval we asked if she was a tap dancer herself which we came to discover that she was.

Its beautiful to see how dance affects different people and how emotion is show in certain individuals. Dance to me is emotion in motion- it touches ones soul and lives in it forever.

All in all- Its defiantly a must see show.
    A sneak-peak of the show
